Studied glass and philosophy at the University of Wolverhampton from 1996 - 2000
In 1999, she attended Pilchuck Glass School, her instructor was glass maestro Emilio Santini and once completing the course he offered her an apprenticeship. After finishing University with an Honours Degree she travelled to the States to work for Emilio for six months. After the apprenticeship, she travelled back to the Isle of Man set up her own studio and she continued to make work for shows and galleries.
Since that time she completed a residency at the Sayle Gallery in the Isle of Man, moved into an Artists Collective for four years and in May 2009, relocated to Zurich, Switzerland to pursue her professional career in Glass.
Since 2010 Julie has been writing her PhD in glass at the University of Sunderland part time, whilst making public sculpture and work to commission in Switzerland, Luxembourg, Holland and the UK, and acting as an advisor/mentor to other designers throughout Europe.
